Custom Software and App Development in Atlanta
Digital Scientists has been a custom software development company in Atlanta since 2007. Mailchimp, NAPA, AmericasMart, and Atlanticus hired us to build products their customers use every day. One senior, US-based team decides what to build with you, builds it, and runs it in production. You own the code.

Search for app developers in Atlanta and you will find hundreds of firms. Many are sales offices for teams overseas, and most will quote whatever is on your feature list. Four questions separate the firms that can carry a product into production from the ones that hand you code and leave.
Who actually writes the code?
Plenty of app development companies in Atlanta sell locally and build somewhere else. Ask to meet the engineers who will work on your project before you sign. Ours are senior, based in the US, and the same people who scoped the work.
Will they tell you what not to build?
Custom software development projects fail on scope far more often than on code. A firm that prices your feature list without questioning it is pricing your assumptions. Our Blueprint tests those assumptions first, so the budget goes to the features that matter.
What happens after launch?
Launch is the start of a product’s life, not the end of the project. Ask who monitors it, ships the next release, and picks up the phone when something breaks. We built NeverAlone, a 24/7 virtual care network, in 2021 and still run it today.
Who owns what gets built?
Some software development firms keep the source code or build on a platform they license back to you, which ties you to them for as long as the product lives. With us you own the software, the code, the IP, and the roadmap from the first commit.
Twenty years building software in Atlanta
The technology changed every few years. The way we work did not: decide what is worth building, build it with a senior team, and stay through production.

What we build
Our engineers, designers, and product leads take on the work that has to hold up in production: new products, platforms that have outgrown their architecture, and AI that real users depend on.
Custom Software
Custom software development for web platforms, customer portals, and internal systems shaped around how your business actually runs.
Learn more →Mobile Apps
Our app developers build iOS and Android apps, native or React Native, and the APIs behind them, then support them release after release.
Learn more →AI and Machine Learning
Predictive models, document understanding, and machine learning wired into the systems your team already uses.
Learn more →AI Agents and Automation
Agents that take on repetitive back-office work, with the guardrails and audit trails a regulated business needs.

Questions buyers ask
Is Digital Scientists based in Atlanta?
Yes. We have been based in metro Atlanta since 2007, with our office in Alpharetta. A senior US-based team leads every engagement, and we meet in person with Atlanta-area teams when the work needs it.
How much does custom software development cost?
An MVP runs $30K to $250K with us, depending on how much it has to prove. Larger platforms and replatforming projects are scoped in the Blueprint, which sets the number before the build starts.
How long does it take to build an app?
A startup MVP usually takes 8 to 12 weeks after the Blueprint. An enterprise MVP with several user types, integrations, and AI runs 12 to 16 weeks.
Who owns the code?
You do. You keep the software, the code, the IP, and the roadmap.
Do you build iOS and Android apps?
Yes. We build native and React Native apps, along with the web platforms and APIs behind them, and support them after launch.
Do you work with startups or only established companies?
Both. Founders usually come to us for an MVP that proves the idea before a larger raise or build. Established companies come for new products, platforms that have outgrown their architecture, and AI their own teams do not have the time or depth to build.
How does an engagement usually start?
With a 30-minute call about the problem you are solving. Most projects then start with a Blueprint: one to four weeks to decide what to build and produce a plan with milestones and a budget.
