Assessment

Opportunity Assessment · 4 Weeks

4 weeks $15K to $25K, fixed fee
Overview

Find the right thing to do. Then build the business case to do it.

A paid discovery engagement for organizations facing one of four questions: where to apply AI, whether to build a new product, how to modernize a legacy system, or what to do at all. We help you find the answer with the rigor of stakeholder interviews, on-site workflow observation, ROI modeling, and a board-ready business case.

Paid, not free

This is a real engagement, not free consulting. The fee signals seriousness on both sides and gets our full delivery team into your operation. You are buying clarity, not a sales pitch.

On-site discovery

We are in your facilities, observing workflows and interviewing the people doing the work. Offshore vendors and pure consulting firms cannot do this. Real understanding comes from being there.

Quantified, not estimated

ROI modeling with your actual numbers using financial analyst methodology, not marketing math. Revenue lift, cost savings, risk reduction, and time-to-market acceleration, all sized against your operation.

Yours to keep

Board-ready business case, ranked roadmap, and executive presentation. Everything we produce is yours. No vendor lock-in. Use it to build with us, or to take to anyone else.

Four Common Flavors

Same engagement. Four questions it can answer.

All four flavors share the same scope, price, and process. The shape of the discovery and the deliverables adapt to the question you bring.

Choose the question that fits your situation:

The Question

“Where should we apply AI to create measurable impact?”

For organizations with an AI mandate or interest, but uncertainty about where to start, what is real versus hype, or how to quantify the opportunity. Often a response to a board-level "do something with AI" directive, or a strategy your internal innovation team or consulting firm has delivered that now needs an engineering partner to execute.

What we figure out together:

  • • Which workflows are AI-ready and which are not
  • • Data readiness, security, and integration constraints
  • • ROI per opportunity, ranked by impact and effort
  • • Build vs buy vs partner on the AI capability

What You Walk Away With

AI opportunity map, ROI model, and a Blueprint-ready scope

A board-ready recommendation on the top one or two AI opportunities, with quantified business case and an executable next step.

Real Example

CommuniCare MDS Optimization began as an AI Opportunity Assessment. $10M+ PDPM revenue impact across two states. The Assessment surfaced the opportunity and quantified it before the build.

This is my situation

Not sure which one fits? That is what the discovery call is for. We will help you place the question and confirm the right scope.

How It Works

Four weeks. Three phases. Complete clarity.

We move fast but go deep: interviewing your people, analyzing your data, and delivering actionable recommendations.

WKS 1-2

Discovery and Data Gathering

Weeks 1 to 2

Stakeholder interviews, workflow observation, data inventory, and competitive landscape review. We learn how your organization actually works, not how the org chart says it works.

WK 3

Analysis and Synthesis

Week 3

Cross-reference findings, identify patterns, score opportunities against feasibility and impact. Build the effort vs impact matrix and draft the roadmap. Determine build vs buy vs partner on each opportunity.

WK 4

Recommendations and Presentation

Week 4

Present findings to your leadership team. Walk through the ranked opportunity list, recommended roadmap, and proposed next steps. Leave with budget guidance and a clear path forward.

Assessment Scope

Four dimensions that determine technology success.

We do not just evaluate technology. We assess the complete picture, because most software initiative failures are not technical problems.

Workflows and Operations

Requirements defined in conference rooms fail. We observe actual workflows on-site, interview the people doing the work, and document how things really happen.

Data Landscape

What data do you actually have? Where does it live? What is the quality? We assess operational data, system-of-record integrations, and security and compliance constraints.

Opportunity Quantification

Vendor estimates are not good enough. We build ROI models with your actual numbers. Revenue lift, cost savings, risk reduction, time-to-market acceleration, all quantified.

Technical Feasibility

Can this actually be built, integrated, and operated? Architecture, integration paths, security posture, and the realistic build-vs-buy-vs-partner answer for each opportunity.

Who It's For

This is right for you if…

The Assessment is designed for organizations that need to understand their opportunity landscape before committing resources.

You have a mandate but no strategy yet

Your board, CEO, or PE sponsor has set the direction: "do something with AI" or "modernize that platform." You need to scope, prioritize, and quantify before committing budget. The Assessment generates the strategy and the business case.

You have a strategy but need a build partner

Your internal innovation team or a consulting firm has delivered a strategy and roadmap. You need a partner to validate the technical feasibility, refine the scope, and execute. The Assessment converts strategy into a Blueprint we can build against.

You're deciding between buy, build, or partner

Vendor demos have not given you confidence. Building from scratch feels heavy. You need an honest assessment of the right execution path for your operation, your data, and your constraints. The Assessment tells you which lever to pull.

After the Assessment

From business case to working software.

The Assessment ends with clarity. Most clients move from clarity into action within 30 to 60 days, beginning with a Blueprint.

Blueprint is where the top opportunity becomes a buildable plan: detailed architecture, user experience, technical specifications, and a fixed-fee execution path. Typically 1 to 4 weeks.

Minimum Viable Product is where the Blueprint becomes working software in the hands of your users. Typically 12 to 24 weeks.

The typical client journey

1

Assessment

4 weeks. Business case + roadmap.

2

Blueprint

1 to 4 weeks. Architecture + buildable plan.

3

Minimum Viable Product

12 to 24 weeks. Working software in production.

4

Build, Operate, Transfer

Ongoing. We operate with you until your team owns it fully.

Ready to find the right opportunity?

30 minutes. No pitch. We will help you place the question (AI, Product, Modernization, or Strategic Diagnostic) and determine if an Assessment is the right starting point.
