PRODUCT BLUEPRINT

One key to launching products that users love and that also delivers business results is with a Product blueprint. The Product Blueprint combines all of the activities required to start and build a successful application. Whether your team is tenured with software or product design – our team and process is structured to deliver a product created with the user in mind, or what we refer to as user-centered design.

Listed here are the key deliverables included with our Product Blueprint: We’ll work with your team through the entire process – from Discovery to Delivery — through several design iterations. When complete, we’ll deliver a product blueprint with clear product goals and features, that enables agreement across your stakeholders, and is ready for development.

Destination Workshop

Destination Workshop is the expression of how your product or service fills a particular consumer need in a way that your competitors don’t. We’ll host a short, half-day workshop to help guide and clarify a collective vision for your brand message, positioning, and goals. This promotes understanding and agreement across teams, before we start:

  • Brand / product / service name and business category
  • Target markets, key stakeholders
  • With regard to your brand, how should target(s) Think, Feel, and Act?
  • Measures for success (near and long-term)
  • Brand frame of reference
  • Differentiated brand promise and reasons to believe

Journey Mapping

The Journey Mapping process is about understanding two important dynamics: the present and the future we want to create. Understanding the current journey gives us insights into the frustrations customers have, and helps us see what solutions may be needed.

Personas and Stakeholder Assessment

What does your user look like? Personas are fictitious characters created to represent the various user types within your targeted demographics that might use the app. We pair these personas with various scenarios and Use Cases that your team would like to solve.

Feature Specification

What are the key features of the new product? After identifying the key personas of the product, we review and define the criteria that is necessary in order to meet the high level goals of the product’s primary users. This list of product features becomes known as the Feature Specification. The most important features are prioritized for design and development in the initial release of the product. The remaining features are added to the Product Roadmap (see below) for future development.

Wireframes

Wireframes convey the intended user interactions, focused around ease of use, functionality, and content. Wireframes are not visual designs, but help to work out structure and positioning for elements on individual screens, as well as a flow for the app itself.

Visual Design

Visual Design applies visual styling throughout the elements and layouts of the application. When complete, it accurately represents the style treatments that will be represented in the final application.

Prototype

Interactive Prototypes allow users to interact with and test features of the application, before the application is built.

User Feedback

The User Feedback phase is an important, though often overlooked, phase of the product development. It can take many forms, depending on the scope of the product and the needs of the audience.

User Stories

User Stories define the complete set of use cases and functional requirements from the perspective of each user role. The user stories capture all user and system interactions and serve as the guideline for development and testing. (We follow the widely-accepted Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) approach of Given / When / Then).

Solution Architecture

The role of the Solution Architecture is to outline the technologies, data flows, and interactions within the product solution and its component parts.

Product Roadmap

The Product Roadmap assigns development time and cost estimates for user story features, grouped by priority across feature releases.
As part of your product blueprint, we’ll plan out a runway of upcoming features according to your team’s needs.
