RTI International Metals

Corporate Website Design & Development

HYPOTHESIS

RTI International Metals reached out to our team to help redesign and develop their corporate website. They had just completed a merger with one of the largest titanium manufacturers in the US, and wanted a unified customer experience. RTI International Metals, Inc., headquartered in Pittsburgh, is a titanium and specialty metal supplier to major manufacturers across multiple industries. Their business routinely supplies parts for highly-toleranced applications like the Boeing 777 Dreamliner, Bell Helicopters, US Department of Defense – and numerous medical applications like replacement joints.

EXPERIMENT

The project started out with overall strategy discussion and a focus on aligning the site messaging with the new brand strategy at RTI International Metals. The site was designed to communicate the benefits of using custom titanium and specialty metals parts collaboratively engineered by experts in your specific market. Our team worked directly with RTI's executive leadership team to develop the information architecture and visual design for the new site. Upon completion of these two deliverables, we worked with RTI to define the content requirements for the site.

In the process we certainly developed an appreciate for the challenges of developing and engineering titanium products.Titanium is stronger than aluminum and lighter than carbon steel and stainless steel. It also is highly resistive to corrosion, which makes it a great fit for use in jet engines, sports equipment, manufacturing equipment, oil drilling, and more. Titanium is even the metal of choice for medical and dental instruments and implants because of it's biocompatibility – and is even being made into nano-wires to develop fireproof and self-cleaning paper. We here at Digital Scientists definitely appreciate the science behind it all.

ANALYSIS

In under 6 months, we designed, built, tested, and launched the corporate website – and followed up with supporting features, including live stock market prices, materials for their growing business units, and sales and marketing collateral materials for a recent airshow they were attending. At RTI International Metals -- now owned by Alcoa -- there is certainly a lot of vision, and we're delighted to having helped bring it to life. After all, the "space age metal" opened up a world of possibilities, so can the new science of marketing.
