Launch of a new office products brand and
ecommerce storefront in just 90 days

HYPOTHESIS

We helped Office Depot go from brand concept to a fully functional ecommerce site with 25,000 products in less than 90 days. Working with the search-optimized ecommerce platform from ShopVisible (and their crew of store-building experts), we helped create the user experience for the new Viking.com. In addition, we partnered with the team at Viking to help manage and optimize their digital marketing investments – everything from display ads and pay-per-click, to social media and contests, and affiliate marketing programs.

EXPERIMENT

We were tasked with launching a flanker brand for Office Depot. The new brand, "Viking," was vibrant, fun and exciting to engage the targeted segment. Working with the search-optimized ecommerce platform from ShopVisible (and their crew of store-building experts), we helped create the user experience for the new Viking.com. In addition, we partnered with the team at Viking to help manage and optimize their digital marketing investments – everything from pay-per-click to social media to contests to affiliate marketing. As a part of our Conversion Optimization efforts (see this blog post for an overview), we worked with Viking to implement Google Analytics and several other analytical tools to evaluate performance.

We monitored the site performance on a rolling weekly basis to identify popular products for merchandising and promotion thoughout the site.


Additionally, we produced a suite of display ad campigns, partner/affiliate programs, and social media materials.

ANALYSIS

We worked with the Viking team to evaluate key conversion rates across the site. By implementing specific changes and improvements we turned more site visitors into customers. We were also able to get more from every dollar invested in marketing, especially pay-per-click ads. All traffic segements were assigned a dollar value and the return on investment was tracked and compared on a monthly basis, achieving rapid user growth in only a few months.
